Taffy Colored Clouds January 8th

So, so, so... Yes it is almost the new year. If my New years resolution was to be in an art show with some of my very talented friends then I would have done it only 8 days later. In all seriousness Alex Chiu is as talented as he is nice, and he is Bob Barker friendly, with a little bit of Happy Gilmore knockout; the knockout part is his art. He will be showing 2+ YEARS worth of work on Saturday the 8th and I for one can not wait. Not only will he be bombarding the gallery with his elaborate and impressive constructed monuments, he will also be curating a group show in which I am one of the artist's along with 10 others. I have some new pieces to display and have already seen a few of the other artist's work and they are incredible, so if you miss this than I hope your doing Sean Penn type humanitarianism deeds, because that is the only excuse we are accepting.

"The Fighter" screening & Art event

So...what a weekend! On Saturday night I took part in an amazing event for "The Fighter". First off, the movie is amazing. It has everything a movie should have, including great performances, strong story line with comedy and drama all wrapped into one, just see it! Then after the movie was the art event. It was packed with people including director David O. Russell and actress Amy Adams from "The Fighter". The boxing gloves were all displayed on a mini ring inside the shop, Gallery1988 has some great photos of the event. It was a lot of fun and I thank Greg Simkins and Jensen (Gallery 1988) for including me in the event. See the gloves I painted here and read a write up about the night from Slashfilm.com

Big Hoot. Acrylic, 11x14 (2010)

I finished a new painting last week for my buddy Jason's birthday. It was a fun painting to do, the animals are an owl and a moose (his favorite animals) and Mnt. Whitney in the back. Happy 30th dude!


I also did some live painting in Torrance this week, for an MNO recording's record launch party. There was a big turn out and a lot going on, met some real nice people. It was especially nice to be involved with something art related in the South Bay. Thanks to Devin Week for involving the artist's and putting it together for us, and also to my buddy Johnathan Whitehead for painting with me, I hope to do it again. (more pics of the event will show up soon)
